Karaoke Host - You May Or May Not Qualify

For myself, a professional karaoke show is when you sing at particular establishment and the host knows exactly what they're doing and the system sounds great. Although it is sad to say, there is too large a number of karaoke hosts across the US of A that are desperately undeserving to run a show. So my question to you is this: Shouldn't there be a training center for karaoke hosting; a school that someone may take steps to train in this field to be a professional independent entrepreneur? Unfortunately there is not.

How a lot of these people across the country simply sit back and think of themselves as being successful Karaoke Hosts, is hard to believe. If all that is needed to be a professional Karaoke Host, to make other people sound great on stage, is to buy a player and some cdg's and instantly go into business without training...somebody is sadly mistaken. It only stands to reason that education is a very powerful tool that everyone should take advantage of in every field of endeavor; a strict criteria to learn a trade. Even a hamburger flipper learns the correct way on how to make a hamburger, if not, he is immediately replaced by someone who can.

Some time back, I had gone out to a well known karaoke club. The usual KJ moved out of town and was replaced by a new karaoke host. I was very disappointed to find the new Karaoke Host (his first time out in uncharted territory) wandering around the room aimlessly, not paying any attention to the sound or the singers. The music kept getting louder and louder to where it nearly drowned out the vocals of every singer completely. In addition, he didn't even bother adding any effects to the singer's voice. He had terrible feedback problems because the speakers were placed improperly and he did not even have a floor speaker monitor so you could hear yourself. This seemed to go on for several excruciating weeks without change until I couldn't take it anymore. Needless to say, I left that club to find another, vowing never to go back again.

To call yourself a Karaoke Host you must not only require the knowledge in what you are doing, but you need to learn the proper fundamentals to accomplish this goal. Most individuals are so excited; pre-occupied at getting the jobs first, they fail to realize the importance of what they need to know to be worthy. Buying the proper equipment and how they must set-up and use it with good customer service, should be mandatory. There also should be a guide to know what to charge for their services. For instance, that inexperienced KJ charged $75.00 a night to work (below the going rate) only to cut rate another, more experienced, Karaoke Host to steal the job from him. I don't know too many people that can just walk in, right off the street, and immediately start work, at a job without knowing what to do, how to do it or what to charge for it.

Now what all motivated Karaoke Hosts should really be concerned with at this point is when going into such a popular profession, go in with your eyes wide open. Prepare to take advantage of an opportunity and learn your trade. It is far better to have all that you need at your fingertips and to do it right then to simply chance it.
